The department has over 900 students, 308 full-time or part-time teachers, and 6 majors. It runs one training center for metallurgical technology that consists of 9 experimental training rooms. It is a national "double-qualified" teacher training base for non-ferrous metallurgical technology. There are 1 provincial famous teacher, 1 provincial teaching team, 1 teaching innovation team of vocational education teachers in Gansu Province, and 1 studio of famous teachers of vocational education in Gansu Province, 1 national key major, 1 provincial characteristic key major, 1 provincial key major, and 1 national "Double High" construction major group. It has won 2 department-level teaching achievement awards, 1first and second prizes for S&T Award, 3 invention patents and 5 utility model patents, more than 100 prizes in skills competition. The employment rate of students has been stable at 100% in the past four years.
