The department has over 1,300 students, 39 full-time or part-time teachers, and 9 majors. There are 1 national collaborative innovation center, 1 national key major, 1 provincial characteristic major and 1 "Double First-class" construction major in Gansu Province. It runs 4 training centers for applied chemical engineering, fire safety, mineral processing and environmental protection, containing 19 experimental training rooms. The school trains professionals for enterprises by cooperating with a number of chemical and environmental protection enterprises. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 98% for recent three years.
